Completely untrustworthy! Any serious employment agency charges the CUSTOMER (the employer) a fee, not the product (YOU)!!!

What a scam.

  1. alison says:

It could be they have had too many bum cheques, so don’t take them at all anymore.

Ask why they have this practice?

  2. Bigdog says:

Why are you paying the fee? The employer pays the fee, and they usually negotiate a different fee than their asking fee. And the company pays the head hunter by check!

I just thought of something, you may be dealing with an agency for secretarial pools, blue collar workers, temporary workers, etc. I believe these require you to pay them. If this is so, then they could very well be sitting on a stack of bad checks that they cannot collect on. That may be the reason they want cash up front. Why don’t you ask. And check them out with the Better Business Bureau and/or Chamber of Commerce. If they have a bad rep, then these organizations would know.
